Five Things to Look For When Reading Your Own Face
The My Real Side Editors · Apr 10, 2026 · 5 min read
Stand in front of a mirror in soft, even light. Relax your face completely — no smile, no held expression. This 'resting face' is what carries the deepest signal.
1. The brow. A high, arched brow suggests openness and curiosity. A low, straight brow suggests focus and skepticism.
2. The eyes. Round eyes tend toward warmth and emotional accessibility. Almond eyes tend toward observation and reserve.
3. The philtrum. The vertical groove above the upper lip. A deep philtrum often pairs with vitality and creative drive; a flatter one with steadiness.
4. The jaw. A square, defined jaw tends to read as decisive. A softer, rounder jaw tends to read as adaptable.
5. The resting mouth. Upturned corners signal optimism; downturned corners signal seriousness. Neither is better — both are honest.
Once you've looked, upload your portrait. The reading you get back will make more sense once you've seen the features for yourself.
